Stress, anxiety, insomnia and depression
Is your nervous system coping with the demands of our 24/7, 21st century world? Poor sleep, depression, anxiety, nervousness, weight gain, fatigue and productivity are all affected by a worn out nervous system. Maybe you are deficient in certain vitamins or minerals, or maybe your adrenal glands are fatigued from being overworked for many years. Herbal medicine specific to your needs can also be effective in this situation. Nurturing your nervous system with the right nutrients as well as and finding some balance in your life can make a world of difference.

Pregnancy
If you are reading this website you are probably one of the growing number of people who understand that being in the best health possible before you conceive and during your pregnancy is good for you and your baby. What you do before your pregnancy (preconception care), and during, sets your body up for making the best genetic contribution to your offspring.
I believe with my whole heart that preconception, and pregnancy care can have a huge positive impact on the health of your pregnancy and future health of your developing child.
Whether it be nutrition advice or help with pregnancy complications you are in the right place. Although some women cruise through pregnancy many suffer: morning sickness, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, excess weight gain, cramps, threatened miscarriage, constipation, reflux, etc.
Having a baby is probably the most amazing thing your body will ever do. I think it should be the definition of awe-inspiring. The way this journey of pregnancy and giving birth changes your life forever is almost unfathomable.
Over the years my practice has slowly morphed from being a very general practice to one that specialises in fertility, pregnancy and children’s health.

Preconception Care
Preconception and pregnancy health really is the ultimate form of preventative medicine. We now know the first nine months in the womb can influence your child’s health for the rest of their lives. What a wonderful opportunity to have a positive effect on your wee ones life! Additionally, being in the best health of your life means you will increase your chances of having a wonderful pregnancy, and decrease complications such as miscarriage, preeclampsia, varicose veins and haemorrhoids, gestational diabetes, premature birth, birth defects, and low birth weight.
This is a great adjunct to your midwife or obstetrician care, giving you a well rounded support system.

Fertility
If you are having trouble conceiving there is plenty of avenues to explore with naturopathy, nutrition and herbal medicine. I have seen many couples enhance their ability to conceive by balancing their hormones, boosting their nutrition through diet or targeted supplementation and getting to the bottom of their fertility problem. Many of the conditions that contribute to reduced fertility (polycystic ovarian syndrome, oestrogen excess, sperm irregularities, excess weight etc.) benefit from a naturopathic/wholistic approach.

Male Fertility
Poor sperm health (low count, motility, morphology) has been identified as the largest contributor to infertility. The good news is that there are many things we can do to enhance sperm health.

Menstrual problems
You don’t have to suffer painful, heavy, irregular periods or the emotional rollercoaster that can plague those with menstrual problems. Conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis and fibroids can all benefit from an holistic approach. Nutritional strategies and natural remedies specific to your unique cycle can help balance hormones and make a huge difference to your life.

Menopause
Unsettling hot flushes, restless nights, poor memory, moodiness/tearfulness and weight gain are all symptoms of menopause. Menopause is of course a natural part of life but it doesn’t have to be torture! We work with natural remedies to help you and your body through this time.

Food allergy and intolerance
Do you suspect you or your child has an intolerance to a certain food? Different from a true allergy (such as anaphylaxis from eating shellfish), symptoms of an intolerance are often delayed and can take upwards of 24 hours to cause symptoms, making it hard to identify the cause. Your symptoms can often alert an experienced naturopath to the offending foods but it may be that we recommend a hair test ($140) to give us a better idea of any intolerance. Chemical and environmental substances will also show up on a hair test. This test is sent away after your consultation and takes 3-4 weeks for results. See below for a list of all substances tested.

Urinary indican test
This is a quick test using a sample of urine that can indicate whether there is problem in the gut. When we eat protein we normally break it down into amino acids. If you have high levels of abnormal bacteria in your gut, then tryptophan, an amino acid, is maldigested and excreted in your urine as a substance called indican. So the presence of indican in your sample lets us know we need to correct the digestive environment in order to correct digestive and immune problems.

Digestion
A healthy digestive system is the foundation of a healthy body. Bloating, reflux, chronic diarrhoea or constipation, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and ulcerative colitis can all benefit from nutritional advice and naturopathic medicine. While alleviating the symptoms we treat and heal the highly complex lining of the digestive tract to ensure lasting results. Although useful, antacids, laxatives and other drugs are only masking the real problem.
In our session I will be interrested in the details of your diet, the results of your live blood analysis and also the level of pathogenic (or bad) bacteria in your urine sample. From this information we can agree on a course of action, and get you on the path to great digestion.
Keeping a food diary for 3 days prior to your appointment would be helpful.

K I D S C L I N I C
Constant runny nose, frequent ear infections, colic, reflux, unsettled babies, learning difficulties, frequent colds, fussy eaters, bad tempers, trouble sleeping, molluscum contagiosum, asthma, eczema, food allergies, poor concentration, lack of energy, obesity and everything in between…the list goes on. I specialise in children’s health and would love to help you, help your child.
Children respond incredibly well to natural medicines. Changes are often fast and deep-seated, having beneficial effects on physical, mental and emotional levels.
Do you suspect your child has a food allergy or intolerance? A concentration/behaviour problem? A vitamin or mineral deficiency?
Children deserve the right to a healthy start in life, and a child’s health now, can hugely impact their risk factors for many diseases later in life.

Weightloss – Feed Yourself Healthy – 8 week programme
If you’d like to explore the impact of your weight on your health and wellbeing let’s talk. If you’re confused about what food to eat, when to eat it or how much, let’s talk. I will never judge you for your weight, or put you on a ‘diet’ that feels uncomfortable. Changing our perception of weight from being about looking good, to being about feeling good and living better, now and into older age is a powerful motivator. Everyone has different motivations I am very passionate about inspiring a lasting change in my patients lives, whatever that looks like to YOU.
By addressing underlying imbalances in metabolism, food education and lifestyle you remove the barriers to achieving YOUR healthy weight. This may look different to what you’ve been told in the past. We’ll incorporate a deep dive into what you want to achieve and why, with naturopathic principles around holistic wellbeing.

Would you pass a WOH?
It may be a common analogy but it’s a good one. We tend to look after our cars better than we look after our bodies. When was the last time you had some vital assessments such as blood pressure, weight, body mass index, HDL cholesterol and blood glucose?
All too commonly I hear from patients that suddenly they were prescribed blood pressure medication, or that out of the blue, they have been told they are pre-diabetic. These changes in our health don’t happen overnight, so what happened between healthy and sick? My health philosphy is based strongly on prevention and I really feel there is a lack of awareness about prevention among the medical profession and public alike. Let’s face it, most of us still die prematurely of preventable diseases, and there are more people on pharmacuetical drugs (and suffering the side effects) for lifestyle diseases such as high cholesterol and type II diabetes than ever.
In my clinic we have started a Warrant of Health programme to help our clients keep track of some vital statistics. With this crucial information we can be proactive about preventing what I call the ‘Big Three’; heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.
The Programme
1 hour initial consultation in which a full health history is taken. From this, we discover your strengths and weaknesses healthwise as well as what your genetic predispositions are, giving us clear areas to focus on.
In this session we also assess:
Blood pressure
Liver function, B12, folic acid and iron status with live blood analysis
BMI, weight and waist circumferance
Blood glucoseOptional: I can send you for blood tests such as cholesterol, triglycerides and thyroid hormones (note: the costs of these tests are not covered in the price of consults)
From this information we put together a plan specific to your needs including diet, exercise, natural treatment of any conditions with either herbal medicine or supplemental therapy.
3 follow up sessions throughout the year are included in this programme.

Detoxification
The modern world can expose us to an unprecedented amount of pollutants and toxins, from the air we breathe to the food we eat to the water we drink. Many disorders have been linked to toxin exposure from chronic dermatitis and allergies to many cancers and reproductive disorders. More than just cutting out alcohol and take-aways, supervised detoxifiction can change your whole relationship to food and raise the bar on what ‘healthy’ means to you. Extra energy, clear mindedness, easy digestion, weight loss for those that need it, all result from real detoxification. Depending on your level of health and any existing health conditions, a detoxification programme of 2 or 6 weeks can be the most effective strategy for improving your health.
My Detoxification Programme works by:
- Reducing toxin exposure through dieatry and lifestyle changes
- Reducing bad bacteria and waste from your digestive system
- Nourishing your digestive lining and healthy flora to improve your digestive function: and
- Releasing those toxins so they can be eliminated via the bowel, kidneys and lymphatic system.
Pregnancy isn’t the time to be detoxifying; however, it is ideal as a preconception programme.

Live blood screening
Hemaveiw or live blood analysis is a live blood screening that helps me gain vital information about your health status. Using only one or two drops of blood, I can analyse the size, condition, shape and ratios of your different blood cells. For example, abnormalities in red blood cell size can indicate an increased requirement for iron, B12 or folic acid. Damaged cells can indicate free radical damage from pesticide or chemical exposure and the need for antioxidant and detoxification treatment. Patients often describe it as a real revelation, being able to see, right in front of their eyes, the effect their diet or lifestyle is having on their bodies. It is a great tool to track the treatment of a patient because as the body gets healthier the cells return to normal.
